BCA’s in Three Regions and with Four Universities

BCA’s in Three Regions and with Four Universities

The studios are real journeys. They start in the Euregio Meuse Rhine, and end with a trip between Tallinn and Helsinki. But besides the physical journeys, they also act as the backbone of this research project. From inventing the BCA-I to testing it and to uploading and experimenting with the BCA-N. The studios allow and sometimes force us to make and collaborate. Even if the way forward has been vague sometimes there is always the border to cross. And from that principle, the BCA, drawings and maps are to be made and the project keeps moving forward. Where the first studios are weekly gatherings and discussions on the work done during the week, the last studio’s experiment with a specific BCA-I version.

This process of making, especially in the beginning, starts to a large extent with the motivation: ‘I’m just doing something’. A kind of active messing around, but at the same time conscious and alert to what is or might be happening. This uninterrupted making and producing allows to find out what we couldn’t have written down in the first place.
