On Dec. 1st, 2020, the Border Encyclopedia has been ‘officially’ launched during a small event. A selected group of participants executed and discussed a Border Crossing Act and invited speakers introduced various views on borders and the relevance of the Encyclopedia:
- Joep Leerssen (UvA)
- Hildegard Schneider (ITEM, UM)
- Ruth Benschop (Zuyd, MERIAN)
- Henk van Houtum (Radboud University, Nijmegen Centre for Border Research)
Lastly, a panel discussion between the initiators (Marlies Vermeulen and Remy Kroese from Dear Hunter), speakers and guests not only dealt with the Border Encyclopedia itself but also with borders, maps and their powers & flaws in general.
